3 Ways We Cats Can Encourage Productivity
Apr 1, 2010 by Gunther
Good Morning,
Is this on?
Before I get going, let me introduce myself. I am Gunther, Feline Director of Operations here at Marissa Berger Interactive. Though this is my first post to the blog, I guarantee you that I have been part of the MB/I team longer than any of these… fish.
Anyway, I wanted to say a few words about employee productivity.
Stake Out Sunny Spots
Human employees should be busy petting cats, answering phones, designing websites, and testing products. They should not be lounging in the sun staring at passing butterflies or ripening fruit. As a productivity officer, you should always take these spots first. Not only does your presence encourage good habits in the other employees, but it’s oh so warm and comfy.
Make Unscheduled Visits
Some animal directors will constantly pester human employees, barking instructions every minute of the day. Let me tell you, that approach is strictly for the dogs and is not tolerated at the MB/I home office.
Here we trust our employees to know their business. We find it more useful to see how they naturally interact with each other and their work, and for that sporadic and unpredictable visits are best. After testing them on critical skills like neck scratching and playfulness it’s time to move on.
Getting An Employee’s Attention
As every human at MB/I makes regular use of their computer, the best way to garner their attention is to stand between the employee and their computer. If this fails to produce the desired effect, pace back and forth and, as a final measure, sit upon the keyboard.
Incidentally, these methods also work when you need to speak with the boss. Just remember, be extra cute and cuddly if you don’t want to get written up.
In Conclusion (or Licking My Paws)
Thank you for your time. If your lunch was raided while reading this post, I assure you it wasn’t me. I have been right here the whole time.
Gunther
Feline Director of Operations
