SEO Writer (Filk with Links)

One of the types of reproduction that is allowed under the United States’ Fair Use laws is duplication for the purpose of parody, and as today is the 43rd anniversary of “Paperback Writer” reaching #1 on the American charts it also seemed an appropriate time to roll out this caution against banal and derivative blogging.

Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my blog?
It took me hours to write, will you give a slog?
It’s based on some posts by a man named Cutts
And I need a job, so I want to be a SEO writer,
    SEO writer.

It’s a dirty story of a black hat man
And his dirty peers don’t understand.
His son is working at the Daily Kos,
It’s a steady job but he wants to be a SEO writer,
    SEO writer.

It’s a thousand pages, give or take a few,
I’ll be scrapping more in a day or two.
I can make it longer if you like the style,
I can change it round and I want to be a SEO writer,
    SEO writer.

If you really like it, it’s CC 3.0,
You could make a mashup and repost overnight.
If you want to pingback, you can send it here
But I need a break and I want to be a SEO writer,
    SEO writer.

Regardless of what topic you write on, it is easy to fall into the trap of regurgitating information that is already available on the web. While digests of this sort can be helpful for visitors to your site who do not have the opportunity to track down the best industry blogs themselves, more serious searchers will probably chose to follow your sources directly.

If you want to grow your readership and make your blog into a destination, you need to produce compelling, original content. You do not need to avoid making references to other blogs (destinations are rarely dead ends), but try to say something about the entry or the author, don’t just quote or re-write the content.

This is hilarious! Good job, Aaron! (Of course, I’m plenty old enough to remember Paperback Writer — I owned it on vinyl)

    Hi Aaron,

I completely agree with you here. If one is to try and grow ones readership base, you must have original and thought provoking articles that may unlikely be found elsewhere on the web. Recalling Arthur Schopenhauer (philosopher), I remember him writing about how dull it was to read and read and then rewrite without personally creating onces own theory. He mentions that reading is bad because all you do is read and then the thoughts that are in your head are but mirror images of what you’ve learned. Sometimes regurgitating information is a direct result of the things we read. Instead of forming our own ideas, we accept ideas and innovate them but that still doesn’t make us unique. The funny thing for me was that I was actually reading his works and thought, why the heck would he write something if he things reading is useless? lol

anyways, I might have gone on a tangent here but I just wanted to let you know that I myself am an seo writer and appreciate this article. :D

Thank you, Lindsay, and thank you, Tony.

I’m always looking for new works and authors to add to my reading list, and Arthur Schopenhauer sounds like someone who should be there.
